What if you didn’t need money? What if you could travel for free? What if you could pick a place and live there cheaper than you could at home? I am just going to let that sit a minute with your imagination…..where would you go? What would you do? Who would you take with you?
It is possible! You can live and travel for free anywhere in the world you just have to know where to look and what to do. Money is no longer an excuse not to travel. The world really is your oyster.
So how do you do it? Here are 5 ways you can travel for free:
This site is for pet owners to find trustworthy people to house sit there home and look after their pets while they are on holiday. There are house sitting jobs available all over the world. You pay a fee to register for the website and after that you are free to submit applications to look after people’s animals. It is a win win. They don’t have to pay someone to look after their animals and you get free accommodation in a local area with a chance to really get to know the area like a local. The link above will give you 20% off if you want to give it a try 🙂 Want some tips on getting started? Then check out my 5 steps to house sitting.
If your interested in organic produce and don’t mind getting your hands a bit dirty then this could be perfect for you. Wwoofing is all over the world. You help out in the farm and in return they give you food and accommodation. You also get the chance to learn about the farming lifestyle. Perfect if your looking for something a bit different. This was a way many travellers got their second year visa for Australia but due to visa changes this has now been banned.
This is a great way to travel. Yes you hear the horror stories but if you stay with a reputable host with references and you make a great connection it can be a fantastic way to see the world. I plan on staying in my first couch surfing place in Vietnam next month. So stay tuned as to how that goes.
This is something I heard about recently through a friend. It is a way to get from A to B for free. People need help or company to sale their boats and they place them on this site and then you make contact and let them know you are interested. Some boats don’t require any experience whilst others do. If you don’t suffer from seasickness (like I do) then this could be a fantastic option for you.
This is a fantastic way to gain experience or volunteer in new and exotic locations. You can grow your experience in anything on this site be it teaching, hospitality or just helping out in a country less developed for a few weeks or months. Food and accommodation is usually included for free and you get to live and help out in a part of the world you would never have been able to go to before.
I would love to know if you have utilised any of these places in the past and managed to travel for free? Would you use any of them? I love hearing from other travellers, comment below and let me know if you would travel for free ??
